PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Reuters) – Militants using a crate bomb and firing weapons attacked the U.S. consulate in the Pakistani new zealand urban area of Peshawar on Monday hours after a suicide bomber killed 38 people to another place in the northwest, officials said.
Pakistani Taliban militants claimed role on the abuse on the consulate, in which eight people including three militants were killed but no ditty in the function was upset, and vowed more violence.
The attacks underscore the danger posed via militants in nuclear-armed U.S. partner Pakistan after a year of military offensives which have dealt the Islamists momentous setbacks.
The battery on the closely guarded consulate came hours after the bomb gale at a revival of supporters of an ethnic Pashtun-based political corps staunchly opposed to the militants.
"I saw attackers in two vehicles. Some of them carried rocket-propelled grenades. They pre-eminent opened fire at fastness personnel at the postal service nearly the consulate and then blasts went supplied," urban district inhabitant Siraj Afridi told Reuters.
